The versatile and compelling tone combines characteristics of many traditional percussion styles while opening up new creative pathways to explore.
The solid hardwood drum head is made up of 5 layers of cross-laminated clear birch that is specially tempered for a surprisingly lively and responsive feel.
The uniquely functional 7-sided body is made from local mountain grown cedar and reclaimed tone woods hand selected for a combination of musicality, dimensional stability, and sustainability.
“Tone Ring” construction doubles up the thickness of material under the drum head with an inner ring of solid hardwood, allowing for a larger radius at the playing edge and giving the drums their characteristic look and playing comfort, while reflecting kinetic energy back into the head for rich, resonant tone.
The Head to body transition is turned on a lathe, contoured by hand and then rubbed until it’s silky smooth for a superb tactile playing experience.
We use a water-based, non-toxic hand rubbed satin finish that is durable enough for years of playing, even with brushes.
Adding the micro-adjustable and auto-locking Snare system that gives you access to a broad palette of unique snare textures and timbres. From dirty and buzzy up through fat and warm all the way to tight cracks and pops. In between are whole new voices and special effects, sizzles and buzzes, rattles and moans. The infinite adjustability allows professionals to dial in subtle tonal variations that are nuanced and highly rewarding. The snare sound is dialed into a hotspot front and center on the head so that at many settings the bass and open tones stay clean and the snare is added to the mix.
Stand options include a low basket stand, a high basket stand, a custom wooden stand or mount a set of 4 custom chrome floor tom style legs for adjustable and rock solid support. Stands hold the drum in the right playing position and elevate the drum for the best tone, projection and playing comfort. The floor tom legs are great for players who would like to add the texture and versatility of a C7D hybrid-cajon to their drum kit.
Each drum is a one of a kind work of functional art made by hand in Mt. Shasta, California with a unique serial number and is signed by the maker.
